Mavs hold off Celtics for 3-1 lead in NBA Western Finals
The Dallas Mavericks took a commanding 3-1 lead in the Western Finals with a 119-114 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Luka Doncic led the way for the Mavericks with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Spencer Dinwiddie added 21 points and Jalen Brunson chipped in 18.
For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum scored 28 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 22 points and Robert Williams III with 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Celtics were missing Al Horford, who sat out with a knee injury.
The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than 10 points. The Mavericks took a 10-point lead in the third quarter, but the Celtics fought back to within two points in the fourth quarter.
However, the Mavericks were able to hold on for the win, thanks in part to some clutch free throw shooting by Doncic in the final minutes.
