England To Continue With Their Cautious Approach For Jofra Archer's Workload Management

Cautious Approach Required

Jofra Archer's return is expected to be handled cautiously by England, who will continue to manage his workload lest he aggravate his lingering elbow injury.

Archer, 27, has been struggling with an elbow injury since suffering a stress fracture late in 2021. He missed the entire 2022 season as a result and his return in the ongoing County Championship with Sussex has been managed carefully.

The fast bowler has been rested for the past two rounds of matches, and England's management has stated that they will continue to take a cautious approach with him.

Can England Afford to be Cautious?

Some critics argue that England cannot afford to be too cautious with Archer, given their struggles in the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.

England lost the first Test at Mount Maunganui by an innings and 65 runs, and they are currently trailing 1-0 in the two-match series.

Archer's return would give England a major boost, as he is one of the most exciting fast bowlers in the world.

What are England's Options?

If Archer is not fit to play in the second Test at Lord's, England have a number of options to replace him.

Olly Stone, Matthew Potts, and Saqib Mahmood are all in contention to start in place of Archer.

Stone has been in impressive form for Warwickshire in the County Championship this season, while Potts and Mahmood have also shown promise at international level.
