Bidens Bid For Second Term Faces Hurdles

Biden's Bid for Second Term Faces Hurdles

President Becoming Isolated,

May Not Be Able to Win

US President Joe Biden has begun to accept the idea that he may not be able to win the Nov. 8 presidential election, according to sources familiar with his thinking.

Biden, 79, has faced growing pressure from within his own party to step aside and make way for a younger candidate. Some Democrats believe that Biden is too old and out of touch to win a second term.

A recent poll found that only 38% of Americans approve of Biden's job performance. His approval ratings have been declining steadily since he took office in January 2021.

The president has said that he has no intention of stepping back from his bid for a second term. However, he has acknowledged that he is facing an uphill battle.

Biden's chances of winning the election may be further diminished by the fact that he is becoming increasingly isolated. Only 23 Democratic members of Congress have publicly called for him to step aside. And no congressional leaders have endorsed his reelection bid.

The Democratic Party rules outline what would happen if Biden steps aside before he is formally nominated or if there is a vacancy on the ticket after. In either case, the Democratic National Committee would choose a replacement candidate.
